Ownership and Borrowing

Source boundary: This page summarizes the Edition 1 documentation shipped with nebo-v1.1.0. It is a reading guide, not a fresh execution test or a compatibility guarantee for your compiler.

The move rule describes transfer of ownership and invalidation of the previous binding. Its published negative example accesses a source after moving it and records rejection. This expresses the intended boundary of that tested form; it is not a blanket memory-safety certification.

The borrow rules distinguish shared and unique views. They constrain mutation, moving, resetting and dropping an owner while a borrow remains active. The examples explicitly release views and include a conflicting unique reborrow that is rejected.

Track which value owns a resource, which views remain alive and when a view is released. Keep payload lifetimes visible when passing values into functions or containers. Do not assume copying, cloning and moving are interchangeable operations.

The site has not independently tested these ownership examples against a current SDK. For application decisions, read the full versioned rules and their rejection cases. Broader safety, concurrency and lifetime guarantees remain outside this MVP.
